I found this blurb from The Smithfield Times in July 1946 that mentions my great grandmother. This is the only thing I’ve found other than her death certificate and her children’s obituaries that mention her. I found it while looking for something else.

Have Your Press’re Cooker Tested
Pressure Canner Clinics for Farm Security housewives are being conducted in Isle of Wight and Nansemond Counties under the supervision of Miss M. Virginia Allen, Associate Farm Security Supervisor.
Pressure canners will be tested with special attention given to pressure gauges and safety valves. By checking the accuracy of the pressure gauges and the safety valves, Miss Allen hopes to assist housewives in doing the very best job of food conservation this summer.
The first clinic was held June 19 at the home of Josie Clarke RFD, Smithfield, the second June 25 at the home of Mary Lizzie Allmond RFD. Windsor. Va.
