Looking for traces of my 2nd great grandfather, I mostly find him in real estate descriptions. He was born into slavery in 1856 (I found his birth record BTW!!!) and ended up owning 89 acres of land when he passed away. I don’t know when he died but I know that it was between the 1900 and 1910 Censuses. I’ve been looking for county records to see if it was recorded there. The Commonwealth of Virginia did not record deaths until 1912. His wife Amanda died between the 1910 and 1920 Censuses and I have not found that either.

To confirm that it’s the Moses Allmond that I’m looking for (I have four in my family tree) I looked to see that the other three were alive in 1934 and I looked at the parcel map at https://iowgis.maps.arcgis.com.
