What happened to first names?

This is annoying. How could the census taker not record first names? The good thing, though, is that this combination of initials works for me. K J C Eley is Kennith John Cephas Eley and his father J J Eley is Jacob J. Eley. I found this in Quaker records. I don’t know if this woman is connected to me but this was interesting. I couldn’t read some of it but I got the main point. “She has been guilty of fornication, on which account she was treated(?) with by a Committee of Womens Meeting, but she did not appear qualified to condemn her transgression.
